Technical Support Engineer

Functions

Technical Support Engineer will be working in the technical support department handling all of hardware and software support of SATEC’s products. This position is based out of SATEC Inc. office, located in Union, NJ.  

Primary function of this position is to work in resolving technical issues and assisting in the customer support. This will require working in conjunction with Engineering, Sales, ExpertPower Software and Product Assembly departments by giving support and advice in technical areas.

Key Responsibilities & Tasks

  • Work in resolving technical issues and assisting in the customer support
  • Assist technically for maintaining the reliability and performance of customer systems
  • Provide assistance to technical support engineers
  • Assist customers with site-specific questions
  • Mentor the technical support engineers with test bench, testing procedures and support issues
  • Provide feedback to the Engineering team for product improvement
  • Oversee creation of documentation and reviews for our knowledge base system
  • Oversee quality and reliability of  product verification and operation
  • Give technical advice to ExpertPower Solution team and Product Assembly team for improvements

Qualifications

  • Primary requirements for this position are:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, preferably Electrical Engineering or Computer Science
  • Very skilled in computers with deep software knowledge
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in system troubleshooting, analysis and problem solving
  • Expert technically in electrical power distribution and energy management
  • Highly skilled in various OS and expert with TCPIP, Modbus and Ethernet protocols
  • Knowledgeable in metering products and billing systems
  • Knowledge of metering, three phase power systems and SCADA systems
  • Positive attitude, enthusiastic, self-motivated and customer focused
  • Team leader enjoying the cross-functional interaction
  • Quick learner and comfortable working in a fast paced, dynamic environment
  • Ability to travel to various customer sites with some overnight stay
  • Strong written and oral communication skills

Desirable Skills

  • SQL Database querying and programming experience
  • Power transmission, distribution and controls applications
  • Thorough understanding of electrical power quality
